Declining wine exports
Hungary’s wine trade balance (excluding sparkling wine and champagne) was positive both in volume and value, however, decreased by 20 percent in volume and by 7 percent in value in the first eight months of 2016, compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), wine exports decreased by 9 percent to 348 thousand hectoliters in volume and by 5 percent in value to 13 billion HUF in the January-August period of 2016, compared to the same period of the previous year. Hungary’s wine imports increased by 12 percent to 140 thousand hectoliters, the import value (2.9 billion HUF) was 4 percent higher in the period under review. (by our colleague)
