Hungary was the guest of honor at a wine competition in France
The 2010 five-butt Tokaji Aszú of the Pannon Tokaj winery and the Villany-based Bock winery’s Libra Cuvée 2011 red wine won the Special Prize of the international federation of wine journalists (FIJEV) at the the Citadelles du Vin Wine and Spirit Competition in Bordeaux. This year Hungary was the guest of honor of the wine competition – the Magyar Szőlő- és Borkultúra Nonprofit Kft. (Hungarian Grape and Wine Culture Non Profit Ltd.) told MTI on Tuesday.
At the three-day event ended on Monday, almost 60 experts of 20 twenty countries tasted 1204 drinks of 30 countries: 766 red wines, 245 dry white wines, 85 sparkling wine, 35 sweet white wines, 31 rosés, 32 liqueur wines and 10 pálinkas. More than 300 products were awarded. Organizers said that the average price of the wines was “very high” this year 11.73 euros (3620 HUF). (MTI)
