The European Parliament would radically reduce the number of thin plastic bags with its resolution adopted on Wednesday.
According to the document, adopted in Strasbourg by the European Parliament, until 2017 the number of the most environmentally polluting plastic bags thinner than 50 microns would be decreased to the half of the 2010 levels. Until 2019 the amount of reduction would be eighty percent. The MEPs would achieve the reduction with product fees, market restrictions or with even by introducing a ban. (MTI)
