The Hungarian Merino sheep has become an endangered farm animal, according to the latest regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture – the Ministry of Agriculture (FM) said at the request of MTI.

merinoAccording to the ministry, the protection and the preservation of its genes have become technically justified, after the downturn of the domestic wool industry the previously popular merino wool became an almost worthless by-product, and due to changes in market demand sheep breeding has shifted towards the use of beef sheeps.
