The VAT on several basic foods will decrease in Slovakia from January
From next January, the VAT on several basic foods will decrease in Slovakia from 20 percent to 10 percent – the bill was approved on Thursday by the parliament.
The reduction is part of the second social package, which was announced in August by Robert Fico's government. The reduction affects the basic range of foods, only the fresh food products.
From the measure the government expects the retail price reduction of basic foods and hopes that as a consequence the goods will become more accessible. (MTI)
