The pig sector calls for further VAT rate cut
The Livestock and Meat Interprofessional Organization and Marketing Board (VHT) considers a further reduction in the value added tax (VAT) necessary in the pig sector – the President of the VHT said on Thursday in Budapest at a professional roundtable discussion.
According to Babati Zoltán this would be necessary, because the turnover of carcass meat increased as a result of the VAT reduction early in the year, but demand for meat products declined.
He said that the sale of carcass meat increased by 40 percent after the VAT was reduced from 27 percent to 5 percent. (MTI)
