The beer manufacturers would lobby at the government against the January excise tax increase affecting alcohol products, otherwise beer will be more expensive.
Brewers would initiate a consultation with the decision-makers in order to outline the negative consequences of the planned 10 percent excise tax increase from January. “We can show the government with datas, that the excise tax increase will not reach the expected sales and excise tax revenues. The manufacturers will be forced to pass the tax increase on the consumers. The price increase will lead to a decline in consumption”- told Csíkné Kovács Klára, the President of the Hungarian Brewers Association to Világgazdaság.
