Food retail sales rose by 6 percent in value and decreased by 1 percent in quantity in the last six months, between December 2011 and May 2012, compared to the previous similar period.
The six months turnover of the 90 food products continuously measured by Nielsen was about 665 billion HUF. Behind the average the retail trends of several product groups differ from the average. In terms of value, a double-digit growth was recorded in the sales of coffee, sour cream, margarine, wafer and vodka, in a half year comparison – informs Melisek Eszter, Customer Relations Director of Nielsen.
The store sales of the most favorite food products including beer, cheese, sour cream, margarine and ice cream increased in all terms from one half-year to another.
